Where Was Seonghyeon Born?
Seonghyeon was born in Seo-gu, Daejeon, South Korea. Public profiles identify Daejeon as his hometown, while some biographical listings specify the Gwanjeo-dong area of Seo-gu.
He later moved into the Seoul-centered entertainment environment as his training and professional career developed. His background therefore includes both his early life in Daejeon and his later years of preparation for a career in the K-pop industry.
Seonghyeon’s Early Life and Interest in Music
Seonghyeon’s path toward becoming an idol began before his professional debut. A 2025 interview with Weverse Magazine described the beginning of his journey as something that happened unexpectedly at an amusement park on his birthday in 2018. He was eventually connected with BIGHIT MUSIC and began formal training in 2021.
The transition from an aspiring young performer to a trainee required years of preparation. During that period, Seonghyeon developed skills related not only to singing and performance but also to songwriting and composition.
That creative background became significant once CORTIS was formed. Rather than entering the group solely as a vocalist or dancer, he was introduced as a young artist with an interest in creating music.
Seonghyeon’s Education
Publicly available profiles contain differing details about Seonghyeon’s schooling, so a detailed educational history should be treated cautiously.
Some profile sources identify elementary-school education in Daejeon and later schooling in Seoul, but the available public information is not consistent enough to establish a complete educational timeline with confidence. What is clear is that his teenage years were heavily shaped by music training and preparation for his professional debut.
Because Seonghyeon entered the entertainment industry while still very young, his education and trainee life overlapped during an important stage of his development.

His experience also explains why songwriting and composition appear so prominently in discussions about his career. Seonghyeon has been involved in the creative side of CORTIS rather than limiting his role to stage performance.
